The Story
Back in the 1970’s horror was becoming very popular. People were lining up at the drive-ins to see death and gore. Not one to ignore the coming thing, Disney’s imagineers went so far as to create the Haunted Mansion in 1969. Carnivals were also getting into the industry by creating dark rides, bringing horror right to your town. Among the many dark rides, one stood out. Built to look like an old mansion it was bigger than most, scarier than most, and perhaps… more gruesome than most. The ride had its name emblazoned in red, right over the door. THE HAUNT HOUSE! The ride quickly became very popular in every town that it visited. Patrons were amazed by the reality of the scenes and props of the ride. One newspaper article said, “…it was the next best thing to Hollywood effects.”
Things were going very well for THE HAUNT HOUSE until the mid 1970’s. Folks started to notice there was a rise in people going missing during the time that the carnival rolled through town. As the number of missing persons grew, the authorities grew suspicious. The police in one small Texas town were put on alert, and told to keep their eyes out for anything unusual. But when the carnival arrived, everything was quiet and seemed to go smoothly… until the very last day they were open. A concerned mother called the police saying that her daughter had not come home from the carnival. The police stormed the carnival just as it was packing up. They began checking every ride, every vehicle, and even the carnie’s quarters. Finding nothing out of the ordinary, they came to the end of the midway where THE HAUNT HOUSE stood. The doors were locked and the owner was nowhere to be found. They broke in and came upon the owner in the back, unfortunately already carving away at the missing daughter. Before the owner could move he was shot and killed.
During the investigation of the girl’s murder the police found something much, much worse in the ride. They discovered 26 more bodies used as props in various scenes. Thousands of patrons had ridden through the dark corridors not realizing that they were looking at true horror in the flesh. Barely able to contain their shock, the police stripped the ride bare and stuck it deep within an abandoned field so no one would ever remember its gruesome past…
…Until now! Years later, the ride was found by a man. But he was not an ordinary man. He happened upon it while on the run from townsfolk for biting off a kid’s finger. You know him, don’t you? He has scared thousands of you… Haunted your dreams at night… Come on… Whisper it with me… SPOILS THE CLOWN!
He left many of the corridors the way they were, but put his own twisted and disturbing mark throughout. Now instead of sitting in the relative safety of a ride car, you have to walk through the depths of the dark corridors not knowing what will be beyond each turn. You may see the deceased owner trying to claim his next victim or perhaps Spoils and his group of murderous miscreants coming for you from every direction. Honestly, we do not know which is worse…
Once again the doors open this Fall. Two big monstrosities coming together for one monstrous event.
We bring you SPOILS THE CLOWN’S " THE HAUNT HOUSE "!
In 2009, THE HAUNT HOUSE was once again brought to the attention of the police by new rash of missing person reports. They found that their investigation was hampered by the THE HAUNT HOUSE’s ability to mysteriously change. Some rooms were different, but even more unsettling… the house and surrounding area appeared to have grown… by some accounts as much as 70%. During the most recent investigation, police found what appeared to be a yet undiscovered graveyard and caretaker’s shack. A further look into the background revealed that Spoils had hired a ‘caretaker’ to properly (and in some cases… improperly) dispose of his victims. It was said that this caretaker also saw to the needs of the evil spirits that allegedly reside within…
