Atmosphere
The Haunt House looks absolutely perfect from the outside. Although right next to the
highway, the setting coupled with roaming characters will make you wonder if you just
stepped into a horror movie. Someone waiting in line even asked us, "what used to be here?
Did someone live here?" That type of question means that The Haunt House has effectively
created a façade design that tricks your senses into believing it is a real house.
Set Design/Detail/Floor Plan
If you loved The Haunt House last year, then you will love it even more this year.
A new building and an extended walk through outside creates even more thrilling pleasures
and eye candy to the overall experience. One particular addition made us stop in our tracks
and just stare in awe - a down ramp surrounded by wooden crate slats with slow colored
strobe lighting - it creates an unbelievable effect that you must see to fully appreciate.
The new 'mine shaft' hallway was also cleverly lit from the bathroom area to make you feel
like you were about to go underground. The Haunt House has so much new stuff to see- even
some authentic cow bones, rustic tools, other antique pieces, and more interesting touches
throughout. Take some time to look around!
Live Actors (Performance/Enthusiasm/Costumes)
We noticed a couple of actors that seemed 'brand new' and might not have perfected their
performances yet. But for the most part, almost every live person inside The Haunt House
portrays experience and skill. Performances in the form of startles and of scripted
characters both bring out the best of the surrounding details. Wonderful experience!
Admission Price vs. Length (Entertainment Value)
The Haunt House is longer this year. The Haunt House is very reasonably priced at just $15.
Since parking is free, this is not only affordable, but it is also a great value for how
much The Haunt House has to offer.
Overall Experience/Summary/Misc. Information
The Haunt House provides a classic style walk through with beautifully detailed scenes
and unique design. If you have never seen The Haunt House, then you are definitely missing out!
If you have seen The Haunt House before, then you absolutely have to see them again. So many
new things to see, you won't believe that they added everything in just one season. Their
hard work and dedication to the haunt experience truly shines through the quality design
and performance.

Located on the south side of I-30 to the west of Caddo Mills, Haunt House is a single
attraction haunt. The time needed to make it through will depend on your ability to avoid
getting lost. The group we went in with needed five minutes more than we did to get out.
Haunt House goes from being fairly bright to extremely dark at several points. You
will not be able see in at least three parts of the house, so you will have to feel your
way along the walls to make it through. Shock pads on some of the walls add to the
excitement, while in another area vines on the wall make it truly creepy to work your way
out of the darkness.
My favorite new area of Haunt House is the foggy, outdoor area in the middle of the
house, while the checkered hallway with it's uneven floors is a nice touch that I haven't
seen since Phantom's went under. One hallway with fog and strobe lights in the background
looked good enough for me to stare at for a minute, and the quality of the props and
decor is excellent throughout the haunt. The cocooned bodies in one hallway feel realistic,
which points to why I like Haunt House so much, it has great detail in every area,
even ones where they could have gotten away with less quality.
The actors take every opportunity to surprise you, and there are plenty of good
opportunities for that given how dark the house is. Props are used well to distract
you while actors sneak up as you're checking out the decor.
Haunt House has a very high fright factor and everyone we saw coming out had a
great time. It's easy to get to from I-30 and it isn't very far from Dallas, so I
highly recommend that you check out this outstanding haunted house this season!

The Haunt House is located in Caddo Mills just east of I-635 off I-30.
This place just keeps getting better!
The Haunt House, in it's second season, made an impression on me last year and I'm happy
to say that it has made an impression on me this year. There's more detail,
more scares and more atmosphere.
They have done some changes to the outside facade as well as enclosing the complex away from
the parking lot, which makes the wait in line more enjoyable without headlights
shining in your face.
Inside the house there are some familiar scares from last year but there are plenty of new
scenes as well as some revised scares that will keep you on your toes.
I particularly enjoyed the hallway with the vines and 2 other rooms the most,
but I don't know what to call them.
The use of misdirection with curtains, tubes and other surprises managed to keep the few
black hallways they do have very entertaining.
The actors here did a great job in trying to scare everybody in our group,
not just the first or last person.
so if your one who wedges yourself
in between two big guys to protect yourself, YOUR SCREWED!
With so much detail, creepy characters and dark atmosphere, this place continues
to feel like an old sinister dark ride.
The Haunt House delivers and it left me wanting more.
I almost paid to go thru it again!
I only wish it was longer.
At only $10 dollars and Free parking, you'd be a fool not to visit The Haunt House.
Hello Kiddies, Malice here brining you a spooktacular review of The Haunt House
located in Caddo Mills. Now lets get to it.
When I approached The Haunt House from the highway the first thing that
came to mind is that this place looks great!
It looks like a creepy old building with boarded up windows.
Once you get up close to it, you realize it is not an old building at all.
The craftsmanship and detail of this "new" building made to look old and eerie
gives you an idea on what to expect when you go inside.
Once we got our ticket and stood in line, we saw groups of people running out
of this place through the exit.
This was my first time to visit The Haunt House so I had no idea on what to expect.
Once we entered you can tell right off the bat, the level of detail in
this haunt is awesome.
It is not just another bare-plywood mazed hallway with kids jumping
out at you.
If you pay attention to the detail, you will appreciate this haunted house.
These guys know exactly what it takes to put on a truly awesome haunted house.
I do not like to give away the surprises in these haunted houses so without
getting too detailed, let me say you are in for a "shocking" experience?
The actors were great and a couple of them got me really good.
When it was all said and done, I had a blast.
There is still room for improvement and I'm sure they will keep getting better
and better every year.
Did I mention this is only their second year as a professional haunted house?
These guys are on top of their game and I can't wait to see what's in
store for next year.
The Haunt House only cost $10 and free parking?
Its a great bargain and one of the best bangs for the buck in the DFW metroplex.
I highly recommend.

Haunt House is a single attraction haunt located on the I-30 access road between
Royse City and Caddo Mills.
The ticket price is a remarkably low $10, making it a great bargain.
Both set detail and the actors are outstanding, and the fear factory is pretty high.
This is definitely a haunted house to go to if you want to be flat out scared.
I enjoyed the setting, which is an old school looking haunted house on the side
of the road, with green and read lights glowing.
It looks like something you would see in the middle of nowhere late at night, with
maybe some crazy chainsaw wielding locals running around.
I'm pretty sure that Haunt House was going for this look, and they succeeded.
The house hits you immediately with actors coming out of what seems to be nowhere,
and then you walk into complete darkness.
You'll have a surprise in the two darkest areas (i don't want to tell you exactly what will happen)
as you feel your way along the walls to escape.
The clown room has plenty of clowns, and one of them gave me the biggest
surprise of the season so far as I exited.
The hallway with life sized hanging bodies was very cool, especially because you
had no choice but to touch them due to the narrowness of the hall.
The swamp area was as gross as it should be, and the butcher room is good and bloody,
with a very good actor waiting inside.
My favorite room was the dining room, with props and actors mixed together,
and old organ and sometime falling chandelier.
From the realistic looking blood on the walls to the large props,
this is an extremely well made and decorated haunt.
Props are great, but actors make a haunt, and the actors at Haunt House really first rate.
The house is designed to allow the actors to move around quite a bit and they
take full advantage of that.
Timing is a big deal for haunted house actors and they were coming at
me at just the right moment during my trip through.
I usually don't like chainsaws, but the actors here did such a good job with them,
I actually enjoyed chainsaws for the first time in years.
Not only are the actors good, they are also plentiful.
There were more than enough actors to cover every part of the Haunt House.
I definitely recommend a trip to Haunt House this season, this is a high quality,
scary haunted house, and you can't beat the price!

OVERALL SCORE: 9
Review Date: Friday, September 26th 2008

Atmosphere
The outside of The Haunt House is intrinsically decorated on every side of the building,
and this perfectly sets the mood for a great haunt experience.
I honestly wish more haunts would decorate the outside of their buildings this well!
This detail does not stop here, though.
The Haunt House consistently keeps their atmosphere inside, too.
Set Design/Detail/Floor Plan
The Haunt House design shines bright through every scene and hallway.
Every square inch of this place oozes with detail and creativity.
You can tell that the staff takes a great deal of care in making sure quality comes
first and foremost, and this quality design makes a huge difference in the overall experience.
The Haunt House holds some of our favorite hallway decorations,
including the "Slat Hallway" where torn wall paper and sheet rock exposes wooden
slats through several holes, all carefully designed to appear naturally worn.
The Haunt House has also perfected the art of using pitch black passage ways by including
textures along the walls ceilings.
This way, your are not just feeling your way through a plain dark hall,
but everything you touch provides a unique sensation of its own.
Even their black curtains have a texture that is different from any other haunt we have been to.
Best of all, The Haunt House has smooth transitions between their scenes, and sometimes
takes you to "another realm" through large holes in the wall or a crawl in the dark.
Live Actors (Performance/Enthusiasm/Costumes)
I love the fact that all of the actors within The Haunt House are mature and experienced.
This means, we did not see any small children attempting to act.
Everyone had great timing, great hiding places, and provided multiple startles.
There were also plenty of actors to provide full interaction in every area of the haunt,
so you were never left alone.
However, there was not a huge sense of character development in the form of scripted lines.
But, their costumes and make up fit their roles, and their use of props and weapons
seamlessly created an act that was effective, regardless of the lack of spoken lines.
Admission Price vs. Length (Entertainment Value)
Ticket price is only $10 for approximately 10 minutes of walk through time.
This awesome price makes The Haunt House a must see.
Come on, it is only $10!
That is a great deal for all the creative detail and talent you will get to experience and see.
Overall Experience/Summary/Misc. Information
The Haunt House shocked us last year with their greatness as a first year haunt,
and now with their second year, they have not disappointed us.
They are keeping their dedication focused to detailed scenes and experienced actors,
and we could easily see The Haunt House becoming one of the best in the metroplex.
This place has already become one of our personal favorites.
And now, we want MORE!
The Haunt House does so great with what they have, we want to see it get bigger and longer.
Growing bigger without sacrificing quality could easily move
The Haunt House into perfect 10 standings.
Also, growing bigger could allow The Haunt House to have more midway entertainment,
vendors, and possibly additional attractions to appeal to larger crowds
looking for more than one attraction to do.
But overall -BRAVO! You guys did a GREAT JOB!

The Haunt House: Back for more!
It's quite possible that you may have missed out on The Haunt House in 2007,
possibly even acceptable.
It was a new house, and for those of us in the 817...not exactly just around the corner.
In 2008, there are no excuses.
Wonderfully themed, perfectly placed, with a slew of dark halls,
incredible actors, and some incredible attention to detail,
The Haunt House, to use a phrase from one of my daughter's favorite movies, "brings it."
The location may seem a drawback for some of you, but upon further review...I like it.
The distance serves to take you out of your element, stoke the flames of anticipation.
And I promise you, the anticipation is worth it.
The location itself looks like an ideal place to add multiple haunts, a midway...
this place has SERIOUS potential.
No idea whether this is in the mix, but if this reviewer could
offer a suggestion....MORE, PLEASE!!!!!
The Haunt House works by combining what seems to be professional actors with a good
dose of PITCH BLACK DARKNESS, and the nice thing is.....everything is smooth.
I won't tell you haw many times this season a haunt has came up short because you have
two great rooms/areas....but the transition is lacking.
The Haunt House nails it, whether it's their actors, their theme, their rooms,
or the transition from room to room: NOT an easy task, but I will give kudos when
they are due, and in the case they are WAY DUE!
The Haunt House is 10 whopping dollars, a virtual steal in the day of $25+ haunts.
It's $5 more if you don't want to wait in line with the commoners, and why not pony it up?
Portions of the proceeds are going to the Hella Shrine, so come get your scare on
and donate to a worthy cause at the same time!

2007 Halloween Hunters
NEW! Voted 2007 Best New Haunt by Halloween Hunters own Captain Creepy.
Captain Creepy here - The Haunt House is located right off of Interstate Highway 30 in Caddo Mills. Easy to find, plenty of free parking and a friendly staff start the night off right for our group. The creepy, realistic facade and the fact you are outside the city limits at the edge of nowhere provide a great halloween backdrop. The haunt begins in a very old school way and takes on a life of it's own as you descend further into it's halls. The detail of the sets and the passionate actors are why this place is top notch in my opinion. Yes, you will find some traditional HH rooms, but they all have a little bit of a twist that will keep you on your toes throughout your journey. The back story of the haunt is genius, providing a storyline that will allow new rooms and ideas to develop through time without having to change up what is already existing. The owners of this haunt have really done their homework and know what it takes to put on a quality show. Look out dfw metroplex haunt owners, fear has a new name, it's called The Haunt House.
Mortimer the Mangler Review:
I agree with Captain Creepy. The Haunt House has definitely left its mark and is by far the best new haunt for 2007. The atmosphere really gives off the feel of an old dark ride. The house holds true to its theme very well and does offer its own twist on some traditional scares. Without giving to much away, my favorites were the dark room and killer clowns from outer space. The actors here are top notch and stop at nothing. I think Captain Creepy said it best, Fear has a new name! I can't wait to see what The Haunt House has in store next season.

The Haunt House exit is right beside the entrance, and this provides a good amount of entertainment. Watching everyone running out screaming is probably our favorite part of the haunt season. But they also have live bands performing on the side stage, so no matter what you have something to watch and listen to as you wait in line.
For a first year haunt, we were very impressed with the amount of detail that went into the design, inside and out. Small accents such as glowing red light behind spots on the wall designed to look like an older building that is wearing down, and the bare slats are exposed sparsely down the hall. Then we trek through a shrinking hallway, textured hallways, and very effective scream windows through the hallways. This type of consideration for just hallways should give you an idea of how much they have put into every room. Decorating halls between scenes definitely helps people stay in the moment of their experience. The Haunt House house a large plot of land to keep growing, too. Look out, DFW… The Haunt House is putting a big mark on the haunt map, and if they keep this up and keep getting bigger, there will be some big time competition in the years to come! We love to see the new comers raise the bar!
Everyone [of the actors] hit their timing perfectly, and we were lucky to have two people ahead of us to watch getting scared. There was also some great interaction with actors pointing us the wrong ways and forcing us into a place to be scared by another actor waiting for us.
From what we could see, groups were relatively small (4-6 people), and each group sent in was fairly spaced out to avoid groups running into one another. This particular night had a good sized line of patrons, so we imagine that this trend will remain consistent through the season. Due to the timing of the actors being a great bonus for scare factor, it would be crucial for the Haunt House to keep the groups spaced out enough to allow actors to reset and no groups run into each other.
We absolutely loved visiting The Haunt House, and it was surprising that this was their first year. Built from the ground up in three months, everything looks as though it has been around for ages. We know for a fact that we were not the only ones highly impressed by this haunt, too… watching each group running out (sometimes falling down in the process) either laughing, screaming, or panting – and EVERY SINGLE person completely satisfied with the experience and commenting on how much fun it was – THIS tells us that this is a great haunt to see. It is rare that you can see such consistent reactions from everyone who exits the haunt… We look forward to seeing The Haunt House again next year, and watching them grow into the pro market and stir up the competition.

It's rare to find a completely new haunt like the Haunt House. I say rare because Haunt House is truly brand new, built from the ground up, while most new haunted houses are remodeled from existing stores, warehouses, trailers, etc. The owner/manager worked at Verdun (Thrillvania) for 14 years and Haunt House reflects what he learned on the job. The use of lighting is excellent, with a generally dark eerie glow throughout the house. The actors are well placed to surprise you in every room (each room being interactive is a point of this haunt) and the place is well decorated with creative props. At $16 (or $15 with a dollar off coupon available for printing on our homepage or their site) you're getting a good deal due to the number of actors (20+) as well as the design of the house and the fright level.
Actors are the emphasis in Haunt House, but the props are first rate as well. My favorites are in the Dining Room, and the clown funhouse room, which will remind some people of Killer Clowns From Outer Space. A spotted room is well done with a couple of twists on the successful style and there are two dark mazes with sheets and tubes, plus an operating room and a butcher's area. Clowns and the Texas Chainsaw massacre are the two main themes in the haunt, with very persistent actors complementing the well done areas. Haunt House is dark, especially in the mazes, which adds quite a bit to the fright level.
Haunt House is located off of the I-30 eastbound access road in Caddo Mills, not too far from Garland and Rockwall. Look for the strobe light on top of the haunt. While the haunt itself is well lit, the surrounding area is dark and adds to the atmosphere. The place has a good, creepy old fashioned country haunt feel to it. If you want to see a brand new place with lots of good actors who will scare you, take a trip to Haunt House.
